Dealing with Nitaqat

Labor Minister Adel Fakeih’s Nitaqat program of recruiting a prescribed quota of Saudis in all companies is a major welcome policy toward solving unemployment problem in the Kingdom.

This will not only improve the standard of living of the Saudis but also encourage them to improve literacy level among their children. Facilities provided by the government for admissions at university levels and university courses will also enable the youngsters to pursue their higher education. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah’s scholarship policies for higher education abroad is a big boon for aspiring young Saudis. The future is bright and very soon the Kingdom will prosper with high rate of literacy and employment.

But in the present scenario, recruitment of unqualified personnel is a compulsion for the companies for the fulfillment of the quota criteria. One can understand that it is a very big burden on the business houses. In addition to the financial burden, the idle working hours, lack of inclination toward hard work and inconsiderate attitudes on the part of Nitaqat category of employees will add to the woes of the employers and will also create unrest in the otherwise disciplined atmosphere.

Hard work, sincerity and dedication are the qualities of men of integrity. They are appreciated not only by human beings but also by God. Young Saudis must make note of all this and it is also the responsibility of their elders to guide them in the right direction and train them in a proper way so that they become useful and responsible citizens of the nation. It is always better to accept a reward than to accept charity.
